In 2012, there was much to celebrate. Not only was it Her Majesty the Queens Diamond Jubilee, but a little closer to home, Arlington Village was celebrating 25 years since the opening of our new village hall, 40 years of the Village Produce Show and 40 years of the Bluebell Walk.
A small group of villagers got together to plan a little celebration!
It seems that we do celebrations rather well in Arlington and this merry band of locals quickly metamorphosed into THE A TEAM. Since then, we have had little difficulty in finding something to celebrate every year – in fact several things each year which include the fantastically successful ‘Arlington gets Cajun’, ‘Christmas in Arlington’ activities, barn dances, parties, bonfires and beacons for notable events and lots more.
The group is wonderfully informal. There is never an agenda or minutes, just a list of things to discuss, a few notes of the last gathering in case we can’t remember what was said and always a bottle of wine and a few beers to lubricate proceedings.
If you would like to get involved, we write a short piece in Arlington Scene every month, which gives the date, place and time of the next gathering along with an update on celebrations recently past and forthcoming events.
We welcome anyone and everyone and if you would like to know more, you can contact Jackie Appleton on 01323 482429
